There is a lot to like about this game, but for a 4X game to be truly successful it must I have played Endless Legend for 60 hours so far. I have played Endless Legend for 60 hours so far. But even so, I have deliberately played out a doomed game that I had no chance of winning simply because I felt invested enough in the world of my tiny, digital people and wanted to see more of their struggles play out. My only REAL beef with the game is that the incredibly slow pace of things can put you many, many hours into a scenario before you realize that you are hopelessly outclassed and that it's time to kill the current game and try again. The faction lore and custom quest/storylines are a engaging and fresh (a sci-fi tinged fantasy world with an apocalyptic past that is slowly catching up with it) and although I wasn't initially thrilled with the hands-off "tactical" combat system, it's grown on me and feels more akin to being a field commander who occasionally grimaces when their underlings pull a bone-headed move. Even though I've recently purchased Warlock 2 and Age of Wonders 3, this one has enough of a unique approach to escape feeling like a redundant purchase.
